SAXON Garden and Home Sharpener

Interchanging Cartridges

  1. To eject the cartridge from the sharpener head, push the cartridge from the right side of the sharpener head until the cartridge is dislodged.
  2. To insert an alternate cartridge, push the cartridge into the left side of the sharpener head until it clicks into position.

Note: the cartridge can only be inserted into the sharpener head with the”+” stamped on the cartridge, facing toward the handle. The”+” side needs to be inserted into the sharpener head First.

Cartridge Access and Storage

  • To open the cartridge storage cassette, press the cassette access button and pull the back of the cassette out until it clicks into the second lock position located at the back of the sharpener.
  • From this position cartridges can be interchanged and stored. To fully release the cassette, push the cassette eject button and free the cassette from the end of the sharpener. The cassette can be re-inserted and slid back to close.

  • A: Access Slot
    The slot at the front tip of the sharpener allows the bottom jaw of secateurs/loppers etc to pass through without interference.

  • B: Load Cartridge
    Interchangeable cartridges can be loaded into or released from the side of the sharpener head.

  • C: Cassette Access Button
    Pressing this button and sliding back the cassette allows access to the stored cartridges in the cassette.

  • D: Cassette Eject Button
    Pressing this button when the cassette is open will eject the cassette free from the end of the sharpener.

  • E: Storage Cassette
    The cassette slides back into the sharpener and clicks into place along with the release and access buttons.

  • F: Storage Cassette & Cartridges
    The storage cassette houses the suite of interchangeable cartridges for various anvil and bypass blade applications.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS

STEP 1

  • With the pruner in the open position, line up the slot on the sharpener head with the blade and bottom jaw.

STEP 2

  • Allow the bottom jaw to pass through the slot in the sharpener and position the sharpener head at the back of the blade.

STEP 3

  • Pull the sharpener towards the blade tip. 7 to 10 light strokes are better than 2 to 3 heavy strokes.

Note: Light downward pressure will give the best sharpening result.
