SAFE FIT NFS72-800 Gilet Airbag
Read carefully before use
- This airbag vest is designed for horse riding. This vest is not suitable for any other use.
- This vest has been designed to prevent mechanical shocks to the rider when falling to the ground with the airbag triggered (inflated airbag). This vest cannot protect against all impacts.
- Any modification or misuse will dangerously reduce the performance of the airbag.
- Please wear a vest that fits your size and use it as outerwear that protects the upper half of the body. Can be used from 5 to 40 °C.
- Gas cylinders are hazardous materials and should be kept out of reach of children and used with care.
General information
SAFEST must be worn as the last layer of clothing. The system deploys as soon as the rider disengages from the horse and from the moment the activation distance is reached (the activation distance is the maximum length that the connection strap allows before the system is torn off). From this moment, the ball-key system is torn from the case, the striker perforates the cartridge and releases the pressurized gas that instantly fills the air cushions to protect the individual in his fall. The SAFE FIT airbag protection system does not guarantee absolute protection of the rider.
The system can only be pulled off with a great deal of force, which considerably limits the number of cases of unintentional triggering in normal use. If the connection strap, when being pulled out, meets an obstacle (e.g. the body of the rider), it is possible that the system will be activated before the distance pulls out the system. If the rider falls together with the horse without being completely disengaged from the horse, and without the activation distance being reached, the system will not be activated. In addition, the system does not protect the parts not covered by the air cushions.
If the rider were to forget to disconnect when he/she lands, a force of approximately 30 to 35 kg must be applied for the airbag to activate. Once the cartridge is used, it cannot be used again.
- Only purchase approved cartridges stamped with the Seaver brand.

Airbag
Beyond the activation distance, the SAFE FIT system activates and the CO2
retained in the cartridge is sent into the air chamber, which will allow shock
absorption even before the airbag is fully deployed.
Once fully deployed, the airbag deflates very gradually so as not to shock the
body which may have been subject to trauma. The system may not function
properly if all or part of its components are damaged (outer fabric, inner
tube, etc.).
In case of doubt, perform a first visual check. If this is not enough, do not
hesitate to contact our support service
help@seaverhorse.com. Even if there is no
apparent damage, the inner tube alone may be damaged. If you have any doubts,
the wisest thing to do is to come back to the brand in order to have expertise
on the good functioning of your SAFE FIT product.
C02 cartridge
- When the key ball is pulled out, a hollow needle punctures the end of the cartridge and releases the gas into the airbag
- Screw-in the CO2 cartridge firmly and completely. If this is not done correctly, the needle may not perforate the cartridge. Your SAFE FIT system may not function properly.
- o not allow corrosion to form on the surface of the cartridge. If any corrosion appears, replace the cartridge immediate

- Use the CO2 cartridge only for this purpose.
- Once the cartridge is in place, do not attempt to unscrew or remove it. Screw the cartridge firmly and completely into the housing.
- The release of the cartridge is likely to cause the horses to panic.
- The release of the cartridge is likely to cause the horses to panic.
Wrench
The wrench allows unscrewing the cap of the system to arm the cartridge on its support inside the airbag vest. It also allows removing the used cartridge by the same principle.
connector cord
The connector cord allows you to fix the connection strap that links the gas
cartridge in the airbag vest. It remains in place on the rider’s saddle. It is
fixed on each side of the saddle, at the level of the stirrups bars, under the
saddle’s skirt.
The release of the cartridge is likely to cause the horses to panic.

Operation
Arming the system
-
Remove the rubber cap.
-
Using the wrench, unscrew the screw plug completely.
-
Insert the ball of the connecting strap in its place. Pull-on the connection strap to ensure proper installation of the system.
-
Revissez une cartouche neuve à l’endroit prévu. Screw a new cartridge back into place.
System triggering
A tension force of 30 to 35 kg applied by the connecting strap is necessary to tear the key ball from the gas cartridge. This pull-out releases the hollow needle which perforates the cartridge and deploys the airbag instantly. The key ball can be pulled out in all directions.
- The sound of the gas escaping from the cartridge into the inner tube or the end of the tie strap tapping the horse could panic him.
- Be aware of the situation around you. If the location of the fall presents certain dangers, take cover before removing the vest.
- Be aware of the situation around you. If the location of the fall presents certain dangers, take cover before removing the vest.
- If your airbag has been damaged on the outside after it has been triggered, perform the checks specified in the brand’s inspection procedures and replace the gas cartridge. If the damage is too severe, it may not be repairable.
Has it sustained any external damage: (holes, snags, scratches, etc.)
Did it inflate normally: (did the gas escape quickly due to a puncture in the tube or damage to the outer part)?
- Replace the CO2 cartridge with a new one of the correct capacity for your vest.
Refurbishment of the system
Your airbag can be reused, if it is reassembled according to the following procedure and if it is done correctly. Your airbag cannot be reassembled if it was damaged during the last use.
After activation
- Prepare the tools to restore the system New cartridge, wrench
- Remove any residual gas inside your airbag by placing it on a flat surface. Apply pressure to each part of the air chamber to completely remove the CO2 gas. To avoid damage to the interior of your airbag, avoid bending or rolling it.
- It may take some time to evacuate all of the gas, but it is necessary before reassembling. Open the inner zippers to gently flatten the inner tube.
- Refer to part 5. of this manual Arming the system.
- Pull the end of the connection strap through the hole provided and close the zip.
Washing
Do not machine wash or tumble dry. Brush the vest with a slightly damp stiff bristle brush. Air dry, preferably on a hanger. Do not immerse the airbag. The fabric is weather resistant.
- Do not wash
- Do not bleach
- Do not tumble dry
- Do not dry clean
- Do not iron
- Do not wring
- Line dry/hang to dry
Maintenance
- Keep away from flames to prevent damage. To avoid any risk of explosion of the gas cartridge, the vest must be used and stored in an environment where the temperature is below 40°C. Always keep all accessories with your SAFE FIT product. When not worn, the airbag vest should be hung up. Do not store or stock it in high temperatures or in a humid environment.
- If the steel buckle or the key ball connector shows signs of rust or wear, replace it immediately. When the supplied gas cartridge is empty, it must be replaced with a cartridge of the same size and content. Check regularly that the airbag is in good condition. If you have any doubts, contact the manufacturer. Perform a general check once a year to ensure proper operation. Regularly check that the tie-down strap is securely attached to the saddle strap.
replacement
If any of the problems listed below are identified on your SAFE FIT product, consult the brand for replacement and/or repair:
- The jacket and/or inner liner are torn such that the inner tube becomes visible.
- The inner tube and/or cartridge show signs of deterioration or signs damage.
