powerPowerTrunk MDT-400 Professional Transceiver
PowerTrunk Inc. is the subsidiary of Teltronic S.A.U. responsible for business development, distribution and customer support for Teltronic’s Land Mobile Radio products in North America. The company is headquartered in New Jersey. Teltronic S.A.U. distributes the same products for Land Mobile Radio under different trademarks and brand names in other regions of the world.

WARRANTY
PowerTrunk Inc. guarantees the replacement or repair, free of charge, of any
products that are found to have a manufacturing defect, in accordance with the
general conditions of the PowerTrunk Inc. warranty.
Under no circumstance shall PowerTrunk Inc. be held responsible for problems
or damage caused by any accessory or auxiliary element that has not been
supplied or approved by PowerTrunk Inc. Nor shall PowerTrunk Inc. guarantee
the functioning of this product with auxiliary equipment or accessories that
have not been supplied or approved by PowerTrunk Inc.
In no case shall PowerTrunk Inc. be held responsible for any damage caused by
an installation carried out by personnel not authorized by PowerTrunk Inc.
SAFETY GENERAL CONSIDERATIONS
Handling
- Take care when handling, transporting and installing the product in its final location.
- Protect the equipment from impacts or being dropped. The circuit boards and the most sensitive mechanical components might get broken.
- The MDT-400 has edges in certain parts of its mechanical structure that might cause injuries if not handled properly.
Installation
- This product can only be installed, configured and commissioned by skilled technicians authorized by PowerTrunk Inc.
- DO NOT install the equipment in dirty, damp or dusty locations. It is recommended to install it away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. High temperatures might reduce the useful life of electronic components and deform or melt some plastics.
- DO NOT place the equipment or any accessory above the airbag or in the area where it might inflate. Airbags inflate with great force and the equipment could be projected forwards, causing serious injuries to the occupants of the vehicle.
Cables
- ONLY use cables that meet the characteristics specified in the Installation Guide.
- Lay out cables away from heat sources. When not possible, add heat-insulation materials between both.
- Lay out cables away from sharp objects. When not possible, protect cables using conduits.
Accessories
- ONLY use PowerTrunk-approved accessories with this product. The use of non-approved accessories may damage the product, will lead to a risk of non-compliance with regulatory requirements, will compromise the product safety ratings, will shorten its useful life and will invalidate its warranty.
- Please read the user manual to know how to install and use each accessory of the equipment.
Maintenance
- DO NOT place heavy objects on the equipment or on its power cable. A damaged cable could cause shock or fire.
- Use a soft damp cloth for cleaning the outside surfaces. Never use chemical sprays or abrasive cleaning products.
- Any liquid spilt on the equipment can cause serious damage. If this happens, please contact PowerTrunk’s customer service.
Service and repairs
- DO NOT attempt to dismantle this product. Service, maintenance and repair to this product must be performed by qualified technicians at PowerTrunk-approved service centers. Any attempt to open the equipment and manipulate it in any way will render your warranty void.
- It is the responsibility of the user to ensure that the product is maintained in good working conditions.
FCC statement concerning changes in the product
Changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for
compliance could void the user’s authority to operate the equipment.

OPERATION AND RF EXPOSURE
Operation
It is the responsibility of the person operating the product to ensure that it
is operated safely at all times and that local laws and regulations governing
the usage of Radio Frequency (RF) wireless devices are observed. Observe all
signs and instructions regarding the use of RF wireless devices.
PowerTrunk designs and manufactures products to meet strict guidelines and
international standards relating to Radio Frequency (RF) energy and the
potential health risks associated with using RF wireless devices. If you have
any concerns with regards to long term health risks associated with using RF
wireless devices, you should seek advice from your employer.
Important safety notes about the antenna
This radio transmitter has been approved by FCC and ISED to operate with the
antenna types listed below, with the maximum permissible gain indicated.
Antenna types not included in this list having a gain greater than the maximum
gain indicated for any type listed are strictly prohibited for use with this
device.

When installing any antenna, follow the guidelines for exposure of the human body to high and low frequency electromagnetic fields. Please follow the instructions described in the user manual and respect the safety distance specified in clause “FCC and ISED radiation exposure statement” of this guide. -
NEVER use the equipment without an approved antenna attached. Before starting any operation with the equipment, it must be ensured that the antenna has been properly connected. Transmitting without an antenna might damage the product.

NEVER use the equipment if the antenna shows any sign of damage.

NEVER touch the antenna when the equipment is transmitting, as this may cause a minor burn to the skin and may affect the operational range of the antenna.

When the equipment has been running, care must be taken when handling the antenna or the RF output connector, as they might be hot. Protect your hands to prevent burns.

Detach the antenna in the event of stormy weather, in order to avoid risks of lightning damage.
Driver safety
Always abide by the rules and regulations governing the use of mobile phones
and mobile radios in the area where you are to drive.
While driving, keep your hands free to maneuver the vehicle and avoid
diverting attention to the radio console so as not to be distracted. As a
precaution, whenever possible, park off the road to make or receive a call.
Potentially explosive environments
Disconnect the equipment when you are in an area with a potential explosion
hazard and comply with all notices and instructions.
The areas with a risk of explosion are often (although not always) indicated.
Amongst these are fuel filling areas, such as ship decks, petrol stations and
installations used for storing and transporting fuel or chemical products.
Other places in which a special care must be taken are vehicles that use LPG
(Liquefied Petroleum Gas) and areas where the air contains grain, powder or
metal particles.
Sparks in these areas can cause explosions or fires, with the resulting risk
of injury and even death.
FCC notice on operating the device
The device may contain functions that are not operational in U.S Territories
except as indicated in the certification filing. Devices may be restricted in
frequency by the FCC TCB Grant. Please refer to it for allowed frequency
ranges. The TCB Grant may have extended frequencies as noted in the
certification filing and Section 2.927(b) may apply to the authorization. The
device complies with 47 CFR Part 90.203 (e), in that the operator cannot
directly program the transmit frequencies using the normal accessible external
controls. All instructions detailed in this manual must be followed in order
to ensure compliance with RF exposure limits.
Failure to observe these restrictions may result in exceeding the FCC RF
exposure limits.
FCC and ISED radiation exposure statement
This equipment is intended for use in occupational / controlled applications,
where users have been made aware of and can exercise control over their
exposure. This product is not authorized for general population, consumers or
similar use.
This equipment complies with FCC and ISED radiation exposure limits set forth
for an occupational environment. The antenna should be installed and operated
with a minimum distance of 35 cm (13.78 in) between the radiator and your
body. This transmitter must not be co-located or operating in conjunction with
any other antenna or transmitter.
Information from ISED Canada on RF exposure
The Government of Canada provides further information about RF exposure by
means of official publications such as the standard RSS-102, which are
available on the ISED website.
ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY
Most electronic equipment is susceptible to electromagnetic interferences if
they are not duly protected. If the MDT-400 is placed near unprotected
electronic devices, they may malfunction.
This device employs and radiates RF energy and, if not installed and used in
accordance with the instruction manual, may cause harmful interference to
radio communications.
Medical devices
Some mobile digital radios may interfere with hearing aids or other medical
devices. If this interference were to occur, please contact your service
provider or consult with the manufacturer of the hearing aid or medical
device.
Use in vehicles
RF signals may affect motor vehicles’ electronic systems if they are not
properly installed or well protected. Please follow the instructions given in
the MDT-400 Installation Guide to place the equipment correctly. Consult with
the manufacturer of the vehicle what the most suitable installation place is
in order to avoid interferences with other systems.
FCC interference statement and compliance labelling
This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to
the following two conditions: (1) this device may not cause interference, and
(2) this device must accept any interference, including interference that may
cause undesired operation of the device.
A label with this compliance text can be found in a visible location of the
equipment.
FCC Class B digital device notice
This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class
B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are
designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a
residential installation. This equipment generates, uses and can radiate radio
frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the
instructions, it may cause harmful interference to radio communications.
However, there is no guarantee that interference will not occur in a
particular installation. If this equipment does cause harmful interference to
radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the
equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the
interference by one or more of the following measures:
- Reorient or relocate the receiving antenna.
- Increase the separation between the equipment and receiver.
- Connect the equipment into an outlet on a circuit different from that to which the receiver is connected.
- Consult the dealer or an experienced radio / TV technician for help.
ISED Canada ICES-003 compliance labelling
This Class B digital apparatus has been fully tested and found to comply with
the Canadian ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development) standard
ICES-003. A label with the following text proving this compliance can be found
in a visible location of the equipment:
