Device usage and Safety precautions

Radiofrequency and health information
Health authorities advise that studies continue and, as a precaution, to limit cell phone emitted electromagnetic fields exposure by announcing actions easily put in place. They also advise cell phone users, when they are used closely to the human body, to conform to terms of use with special care to distances mentioned in cell phone user guides. Moreover, safety rules must be followed for oneself and others.
General recommendations regarding reducing your radio waves exposure

  • Use a headset during your calls. It allows a lower head exposure to radio waves. However, when in use, pay attention to your surroundings (crossroads, hazardous locations…).
  • Ward, with or without a headset, your cell phone or any other mobile device off pregnant women womb or any teenager lower abdomen.
  • Also use text functions or web browsing from your cell phone or tablet. Those functions require that you look at your cell phone or tablet screen from afar and thus enable a distance between your abdomen or your head and your device, which lowers their exposure.
  • Use your device in good coverage conditions because it automatically adjust its emission power to radio signals that it receives from your operator. Coverage is good when 4 or 5 network signal are displayed on screen. It may have some network coverage degradation in specific aera or situations, specifically in lift, train, car, underground carpark or just in an aera with a limited coverage.

Safety measures for users and non-users

  • Do not use your cell phone while driving, even while using a headset. Using your device while driving is dangerous and is a serious accident factor coming from distraction created by the conversation itself or any other usage (text, web browsing…).
  • Ward the cell phone or any other device off 15cm from any electronic implant (pacemaker, insulin pump, neurostimulator…) and use them from the opposite side of the implant to avoid any interference. Refer to your device user guide and consult your doctor.
  • Respect safety rules and usage restrictions related to certain locations or certain situations (plains, hospitals, gas station, professional workshop, schools…).
  • Do not listen to a cell phone or a tablet in music mode blasting at full power over long periods of time. At full power, long use of the music player can irremediably damage the user hearing. A moderate power usage is therefore recommended. Moreover, it is necessary to follow usage tips and safety rules which are in included the manufacturer user guide.

As a precautionary measure, health authorities recommend to parents that wish to put a device at their children or teenager’s disposal to limit their exposure to mobile telecommunications technologies and to encourage a moderate use of their equipment.
Be sure to inform them of any mean allowing them to reduce their exposure when electromagnetic fields emitting devices are in use (tablets, cell phones, LTE Keys…). If any adverse effect should be underscored, children and teenagers could be more sensitive, given their organism is still developing. Encourage a moderate usage of mobile telecommunication technologies. Encourage, even if not linked to radiofrequencies exposure, a moderate usage of cell phones, by avoiding night-time telecommunications, and by limiting call duration and frequency…

Usage tip to guarantee an optimal functioning of your phone

  • When making or receiving a phone call, hold the phone next to your ear with the base pointing towards your mouth.
  • Regularly back up and empty your phone data (photos, videos, etc.) in order to avoid the effects of memory saturation (slowing down, blocking, etc.).
  • Completely shutdown all unused applications.
  • Regularly turn off / restart the phone to cleanly close applications running in the background and which may affect battery life. Update the phone when a maintenance version is available. Charge the phone for at least 1 / 2h in the event of a long period of non-use (to avoid cases of deep discharge).
  • Use the charger if supplied, of the same brand if available or respecting the following technical characteristics:
    • FCC standard marking.
    • A voltage of 5.0V.
    • Amperage ranging from 550 mA to 2A.
  • Any malfunction caused by a charger that does not comply with these characteristics may be subject to exclusion of warranty.

Disposal of your old appliance

Your Product is an electronic device that must be recycled according to the recommendations. Please contact your salesperson to find the recycling circuits available.
If your device has a removable battery, be sure to recycle it according to the recommendations.

This symbol on the product, accessories or documentation indicates that neither the product nor its accessories (chargers, headphones, connection cable etc.) can be disposed of along with other general household waste.
This symbol on the battery indicates that the battery for this product should not be disposed of at the end of the battery life along with other general household waste.

SAR (RF Exposure Information)

This device meets the government’s requirements for exposure to radio waves.
This device is designed and manufactured not to exceed the emission limits for exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy set by the Federal Communications. Commission of the U.S. Government.
The exposure standard for wireless mobile devices employs a unit of measurement known as the Specific Absorption Rate or SAR. The SAR limit set by the FCC is 1.6 W/kg.
*Tests for SAR are conducted using standard operating positions
accepted by the FCC with the device transmitting at its highest certified power level in all tested frequency bands.
Even if the SAR is measured at the highest certified power level, the actual SAR level while operating can be below the maximum value.
This is because the device is designed to operate at multiple power levels so as to use only the poser required to reach the network. In general, the closer you are to a wireless base station antenna, the lower the power output.
The highest SAR value for this device reported to the FCC has been obtained under the following conditions: GPRS mode ON with all bands.

  • SAR at head 1.159 W/kg
  • SAR at body (10 mm) 1.108 W/kg

While there may be differences between the SAR levels of various devices and at various positions, they all meet the government requirement.
For body worn operation, to maintain compliance with FCC RF exposure guidelines, use only accessories that contain no metallic components and provide a separation distance of 10 mm (0.4 inches) to the body. Use of other accessories may violate FCC RF exposure guidelines and should be avoided.
The FCC has granted an Equipment Authorization for this device with all reported SAR levels evaluated as in compliance with the FCC RF exposure guidelines. SAR information on this device is on file with the FCC and can be found under the Display Grant section of www.fcc.gov/oet/ea/fccid/ after searching on FCC ID:
2AT2L-HINTO-LITE
This device is compliant with SAR for general population /uncontrolled exposure limits in ANSI/IEEE C95.1- 1999 and had been tested in accordance with the measurement methods and procedures specified in OET Bulletin 65 Supplement C.
