DAF-HbsoryU The Big Tank Water Storage Tank
Congratulaons on the purchase of your new large water storage tank. This container was designed to minimize valuable water storage space and maximize water storage volume in a vercal cylinder complete with a gravity-fed dispensing system. This tank is manufactured ulizing a superior rotaon mould process using the finest High Density Food Grade Polyethylene (HDPE) material and PVC fings. This process produces a seamless container engineered to withstand the excessive weight of large volumes of water in a vercal cylinder for long term water storage. Please note that any areas of the tank that resemble seams are only flange marks from the mould. This rotaon moulded tank is completely seamless.
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE FILLING YOUR TANK TO VALIDATE YOUR 30-DAY WARRANTY and to provide you with the cleanest and safest water storage. We recommend the inial set up be done on your driveway, pao, sidewalk or near a floor drain in your basement.
-
RINSE/FLUSH BEFORE FILLING: With the tank standing vercally, lean the front of the tank forward and remove the large cap on top of the tank. Rinse/flush the inside of the tank thoroughly with a potable water safe hose and spray nozzle to remove any foreign material or manufacturing dust.
(We highly recommend that you do not use a regular garden hose to rinse or fill your tank due to unsafe recycled materials used in most garden hoses. Potable safe hoses can be purchased at Total Prepare.) Ensure that all rinse water drains through the open bulkhead on the boom of the tank. -
POSITIONING TANK: Aer you are confident that the tank is thoroughly rinsed and drained, posion the tank in its final locaon. Make sure you can easily fill the tank from the top cap port. Ensure that this posion allows you to easily dispense water in the future from the ball valve fings.
Ensure your storage locaon is not prone to freezing temperatures.
WARNING: This tank must be installed on a perfectly level concrete surface capable of maintaining up to 2900 lbs. (1319 kg) load. DO NOT posion and fill your storage tank on a truss floor system on the main floor of your home. -
EXPANSION: Please note that when the storage tank is full of water, the side walls are engineered to expand out approximately 2 ½” on both sides. Therefore, before you fill your tank with water, ensure that you posion the tank at least 5” away from any wall or objects on all 4 sides of your tank.
-
BARRIER: Place some sort of a barrier larger than the footprint of the tank underneath the tank between the tank boom and the concrete floor. We recommend a non-porous material (to avoid bacteria growth in the event of a water spill) such as Coroplast (corrugated plasc wafer board typically used for making signs), or a piece of linoleum flooring.
-
INSTALL FITTINGS: Please note that for your safety and water quality, we have provided you with quality fings in your storage tank. When you have posioned the tank in its final resng posion, it is me to install the brass ball valve fings. Please note correct installaon direcon in the image below. IMPORTANT: we have provided you with a small tube of pipe joint compound paste that you must apply to the threads of the ball valve before screwing it into the bulkheads. To ensure a leak free seal on the threads, please read the direcons on the back side of the tube of pipe joint compound. Aer you have properly applied the paste to the threads, screw the brass ball valve into the bulkhead. To avoid over ghtening the ball valve into the bulkhead, ensure that the fing is screwed into the bulkhead clockwise and straight to avoid cross threading. Tighten firmly/securely by hand, then ghten with a crescent wrench to the next upright posion unl the handle is on top horizontally.
-
FILL TANK PARTIALLY: When the ball valve is securely ghtened and in the upright posion, fill the tank from the top open cap port up to the 100-gallon mark (400 litres) level.
-
DRY FITTING SURFACES: Aer filling to 100 gallons, wipe down all surfaces where the ball valve is screwed into the bulkhead with a clean dry cloth to remove any water droplets. Let the tank stand for about 10 to 15 minutes to ensure the fings are installed ght enough with no water leaks where the fing is screwed into the bulkheads.
-
HIGH & DRY TEST: To complete the high & dry test, wipe your dry finger on the underside of the threads where the ball valve screws into the bulkhead. If your finger has any amount of water on it, you can afford to ghten that fing ONE more revoluon (no more than one revoluon at a me before checking for any further leakage using a dry finger).
TIP: if you need to turn the ball valve one more revoluon, remove the nut and handle to avoid the handle hing the floor when turned. -
FILL TANK COMPLETELY: Check several mes for water leaks around threaded fings, if you finger is dry, then you have passed the “High & Dry Test” and you are now ready to fill your tank completely.
-
PURIFYING/FILTERING YOUR WATER: Water experts recommend that regular chlorinated tap water stored long term has a limited shelf life and should be rotated ideally every 6 months. To purify or maximize the shelf life of water stored in your tank, you can use water treatment to prolong the shelf life of your water to 5+ years. -
DISPENSING WATER – WARNING: Before dispensing water, you must remove the black cap from the top of the tank to avoid an airlock inside the tank and to maximize water flow.
-
DRAINING SUPER TANKER – WARNING: Before draining the tank, you must remove the black cap from the top of the tank to avoid an airlock inside the tank and maximize water flow. For best results, aach a potable hose to the hose bib thread on the end of the ball valve and run the hose to a floor drain. DO NOT DRAIN WATER WITHOUT REMOVING BLACK CAP from the top of the tank for maximum air and water flow, then open the ball valve to drain.
OTHER RECOMMENDATIONS: Avoid sharp objects that may puncture any surface
of the tank, avoid over ghtening fings, avoid exposure to intense heat or
extreme freezing temperatures, avoid exposure to UV rays to prevent algae
growth in water.
