ADDING LUMINAIRES TO A NETWORK AND PROFILE SELECTION
After successful setup of a network, the next step is to add controllers and
devices to the network.
Please make sure the profile of the device is correct.
CHOOSING THE CORRECT PROFILE
- Before adding an IN.finite™ CASAMBI to a network of devices it is important to consider its intended use. You can select between different profiles, based on whether you intend to use it for static white, tunable white, RGB or RGBW luminaires. There are plenty of profiles available, which can be seen in the datasheet of the corresponding device. It is important to have the IN.finite™ in an unpaired state, meaning that it is not part of a network. Once it is inside a network the profile cannot be changed.
- Unpairing from the network is required to be able to change the profile.
- Please choose the corresponding profile to the luminaire or application. For tunable white (IQW) light engines or indoor luminaires it is necessary to know the CCT range of the product. Outdoor luminaires are listed as having individual CCTs that require unique profiles in the list.
- Refer to the datasheet for a complete list of available profiles. If there is some missing one, please contact your local sales partner or use the contact formular of your web-site.
- To change the profile of an IN.finite™ unit, please follow the steps below. As tip, if you have multiple CASAMBI devices nearby, the 5 dots indicate the signal strength to the device. If you are near the device you want to change, 5 of 5 dots are grayed out. In this case the unit is a bit further away, which leads to 3 out of 5 dots in signal strength.
- Go to “nearby devices”.
- Select an unpaired device.
- Click on “change profile”.
- Select the profile for your product.
- In this screen, click on “start update”.
- The profile will be uploaded and verified.
- After some seconds its succeeded and you can click on back button.
- The device now shows up with the new profile in the list.
The profile is now set and the device can be added to the network.
ADD LUMINAIRES TO NETWORK
The process of adding luminaires to a network is rather simple and intuitive. Just a few steps are required.
- In the luminaires tab of the network click on “Show nearby devices”.
- All devices in range are displayed here. The unpaired status tells that this unit is not paired with any network.
- If you click on the device these options will show up. If there are plenty of unpaired devices, you can click on identify and the luminaire will blink.
- This will be displayed as well. To stop this, press “cancel”.
- If the device is correct, add it to the network.
- The device is now part of the network.
- From the luminaires tab the device can be controlled. Pressing the Icon will toggle between ON and OFF state. Long press shows the control options of the device. These will vary depending on the chosen profile. RGBW has different options compared to the tunable white source of the example here. Please check the datasheet for more details.
- Example tunable white with sliders for total brightness and color temperature.
- The current luminaire state will be shown in the bar. Now on full bright-ness and cold CCT.
- Luminaire is switched off.
- If you want to have multiple lumi-naires grouped, add them to a group with the top left button.
SCENES
Scenes are the most important control option for devices and their control options. Scenes can be used in timers, automations and more. With a scene a predefined luminaire state can be set and this state can be called by any automation or timer programming later.
- In the scenes tab click on “add scene”.
- Name the scene and press “add a scene”.
- Select the luminaires or groups that shall be part of the scene by clicking on them. If the minus symbol appears, they are a part of the scene. Press the minus sign to remove them.
- Set the brightness and CCT (or other depending on profile) for this scene due clicking on the luminaire.
- The established scenes are now visible and can be selected via click-ing on them.
- The scene is then highlighted.
You can add multiple for each device, and it can be reused in several scenes. Also, scenes can be used multiple times.
ANIMATIONS
One prominent way to use scenes is to add an animation, that includes scenes
and timings for them to let them run once or forever. Adding an animation
starts identically to a scene.
Once an animation is set, it can be started like a scene from the same tab in
the CASAMBI app.
- Add a name for the scene and press “add an animation”.
- In this window you can add scenes and wait times between scenes if required. Also repeat can be set.
- Adding a scene offers an individual dimming option as well as an individual fade in time.
- Example of calling 2 scenes with 10s wait times and fade in. The total animation time is shown in the top row.
TIMER
With a timer you can start a scene, or an animation based on a time schedule
for individual days or dates.
In addition to a simple time, you can also add sunrise and sunset as trigger
including a time offset to those. As example you set a light to go on every
day one hour before sunset and off two hours after sunset. The sunrise /
sunset times will be determined by your location and adjusted each day. Please
make sure you have your location proper-ly set.
- With the three dots in the bottom right you can find timers in the first row.
- Add a timer.
- Select switches on and off to set timings and dates.
- Here you can set parameters for switching on like days, time or more. Same thing for switch off.
- After times are set, via add a scene, a scene or animation can be added to the timer.
- Select scene or animation.
- Animation 1 was selected and with a click on it the dim level can be set for this animation.
- Next time (or day) the set time is reached, the timer is started auto-matically.
SENSORS
Integrating sensors is a powerful way to enhance your network in two major
ways. The usability and user experience can be drastically improved if
presence sensors are used to automatically switch on the light or a brightness
sensor seamlessly adjusts brightness to a decent level. The sustainability of
the whole installation is also greatly improved as presence sensors can leave
an unoccupied room off to save energy and a brightness sensor can help to dim
down the artificial light, when enough daylight is available.
To add a sensor to your network, the initial steps are like adding a
luminaire. Sensors can be found in the nearby devices list like luminaires or
controllers.
To add sensors properly, it is required to activate control hierarchie, see
Control options section..
- In the nearby devices list, wireless sensors are visible as well. Add them to the network.
- If the sensor is detecting motion, a small sign is displayed
- Under “More / Sensors” the assigned sensors within this network are visible.
- After clicking on one sensor, you have the option for presence / absence or daylight depending on sensor functionality.
- Presence has 3 main options in the list.
- Presence enables a scene on presence detection, which will fade out after the linger time.
- Presence absence enables both situations to be assigned with an individual scene.
- Absence is not a direct control and only comes into effect, when manual time out and linger time have passed and no presence is detected.
- The linger time is the time the luminaire stays in the defined scene or status. If there is movement detected within the linger time, it will start again and starts again. This avoids unwanted switching off of the luminaires.
Daylight sensors in this menu can only be adjusted in terms of sensitivity, tolerance and calibration. The daylight sensor will be configured when adding a scene.
- Add a scene and give it a name.
- After a luminaire has been selected, click on “settings” in the lower right corner.
- Click on “daylight control” -> not in use.
- 4 more options appear. Depending on the sensor you use select the correct one.
- The selected mode will be described in the top section.
- Select the sensor you want to control the scene, due clicking on “controlling sensors”.
- Define the brightness (lux) level for switching on / off as well as fade times.
- In open/closed loops there is a dim/lux value curve that can be freely adjusted.
- Second way is to use a sensor that is directly connected to the control unit. The IN.finite™ 4CH CASAMBI has the option for a digital and analog sensor input directly to the device. Digital sensors could be a motion sensor, to add a specific scene if a motion was detected or not. Analog sensors are most often brightness sensors to check surround-ing brightness of natural daylight for example.
- The basic functionality of how sensors can be added to the network and control scenes is the same as described above.
SWITCHES
While giving the control of a lighting situation to an automated system is a good thing to a certain extent, it makes sense to add switches to the network as well. With those lights can be switched on/off, dimmed, scenes or automations can be started or stopped and more. Similar to sensors, there are switches that can be added via nearby devices list, already integrated in the control gear (push button) or EnOcean switches.
- With the more tab, the assigned switches can also be found.
- Select the correct switch or add a wireless EnOcean switch via NFC.
- Follow on screen introductions to add EnOcean sensors.
- After clicking on the switch icon, you can assign functions to the push buttons.
- Select the control function.
- Multiple modes can be selected. Depending on what you choose, in the previous picture you must select the corre-sponding luminaire, scene or other.
CONTROL OPTIONS
In the more tab, please go via network setup to control options to have access to some general network settings. Enabling control hierarchy is a must, if you want to use sensors or automations in the network.
- Select “Network setup” and then “control options”.
- The general fade times for switching on/off and more can be modified here.
- The general fade times for switching on/off and more can be modified here.
- Once enabled, there is a circled “A” on the luminaire tab to resume auto-mations after you have manually adjusted some settings.
