Getting Started
- Ensure the shut-off valve is on the inlet side of the filter.
- Locate a section of tubing to connect the filter.
- Cut a 6-inch section of tubing and connect the inlet port of the filter to the water line.
- Flush 4 gallons of water through the filter before use.
- Connect the outlet port of the filter to the refrigerator’s water line.

Read, understand, and follow all safety information contained in these instructions prior to installation and use of the IL-IM-01 In-line Refrigerator & Ice-Maker Filter. Retain these instructions for future reference.
Intended use:
The IL-IM-01 In-line Refrigerator & Ice-Maker Filters are intended for use in
filtering potable water in homes and have not been evaluated for other uses.
The system is typically connected to a refrigerator, and should be installed
by a qualified installer according to these installation instructions.

WARNING
To reduce the risk associated with choking:
Do not allow children under 3 years of age to have access to small parts
during the installation of this product.
To reduce the risk associated with ingestion of contaminants:
Do not use with water that is microbiologically unsafe or of unknown quality
without adequate disinfection before or after the system.
To reduce the risk of physical injury:
Depressurize system as shown in manual prior to cartridge removal.
NOTICE
To reduce the risk associated with property damage due to water leakage:
- Read and follow Use Instructions before installation and use of this system.
- Installation and Use MUST comply with all state and local plumbing codes.
- Protect from freezing. Drain system when room temperature drops below 40°F (4.4°C).
- Do not install systems in areas where ambient temperatures may go above 110° F (43.3° C).
- Do not install on hot water supply lines. The maximum operating water temperature of this filter system is 100°F (37.8°C).
- Do not install if water pressure exceeds 125 psi (862 kPa). If your water pressure exceeds 80 psi, you must install a pressure limiting valve. Contact a plumbing professional if you are uncertain how to check your water pressure.
- Do not install where water hammer conditions may occur. If water hammer conditions exist you must install a water hammer arrester. Contact a plumbing professional if you are uncertain how to check for this condition.
- Where a backflow prevention device is installed on a water system, a device for controlling pressure due to thermal expansion must be installed.
- Do not use torch or other high-temperature sources near filter or plastic fittings.
- Take care when using pliers or pipe wrenches to tighten plastic fittings, as damage may occur if over-tightening occurs.
- Mount filter in rear of refrigerator, adjacent cabinets, etc.
- On plastic fittings, never use pipe sealant or pipe dope. Use PTFE thread sealing tape only.
- Do not install in direct sunlight or outdoors.
- Do not install unit if collet is missing. Contact 3M Purification Inc. if collets are missing from any fittings.
- Ensure all tubing and fittings are secure and free of leaks.
- The disposable filter cartridge MUST be replaced every 6 months, at the rated capacity or sooner if a noticeable reduction in flow rate occurs.
IMPORTANT NOTES
- Failure to follow instructions will void warranty.
- Install with the inlet and outlet ports as labeled. Make sure not to reverse connections.
GETTING STARTED
Your new Aqua-Pure® In-Line Refrigerator & Ice-maker Filter is designed to be installed on the 1/4” diam-eter cold water supply line to the refrigerator/icemaker. These filters come complete with all the necessary hardware for installation. A shut off valve is recommended, but not provided. Each filter is rated for 2,500 gallons (9,464 liters). Filters should be changed after 6 months of use.
IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
For use on 1/4” copper or plastic tubing.
- Please depressurize the refrigerator in one of these three ways:
- Shut off water flow to refrigerator/filter. Place a cup under the dispenser area to catch water and depress the dispenser activator.
- Shut off water at the main water valve to the home and open any faucet within the home.
- Shut off water to the refrigerator/filter. Remove the automatic ice-maker tray/bucket and empty its contents. Replace the ice-maker tray/bucket. When the ice-maker calls for ice, the system will be depressurized.
- Locate an easily accessible section of tubing. Shut-off valve (not included) must be on inlet side of filter.
- Cut and remove a 6” (15.24 cm) section of tubing making sure ends are cut square.
- Connect the inlet port of the filter to incoming water line as shown in Figure 2.
- Flush 4 gallons (or approx. 8 minutes) through filter before use.
- Connect the outlet port of the filter to the water line going to the refrigerator.
- Turn on water supply line. If leak occurs, tighten fittings or rein-sert tubing until leak stops. If leak does not stop, turn off water supply to refrigerator and recheck all connections.
NOTICE
To reduce the risk associated with property damage due to water leakage:
- Ensure all tubing and fittings are secure and free of leaks;
- Do not install unit if collet is missing. Contact 3M Purification Inc. if collets are missing from any fittings.
FILTER CARTRIDGE REPLACEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
NOTICE
To reduce the risk associated with property damage due to water leakage:
The disposable filter cartridge MUST be replaced every 6 months, at the rated
capacity or sooner if a noticeable reduc-tion in flow rate occurs.
- Please depressurize the refrigerator in one of these three ways:
- Shut off water flow to refrigerator/filter. Place a cup under the dispenser area to catch water and depress the dispenser activator. You can now change-out the cartridge.
- Shut off water at the main water valve to the home and open any faucet within the home. You can now change-out the cartridge.
- Shut off water to the refrigerator/filter. Remove the automatic ice-maker tray/bucket and empty its contents. replace the ice-maker tray/bucket. When the ice-maker calls for ice, the system will be depressurized and you can now change-out the cartridge.
- Remove old filter by following instructions shown in Figure 2.
- Connect the inlet port of the filter to incoming water line as shown in Figure 2.
- Turn on water supply line. Flush 4 gallons (or approx. 8 minutes) through filter before use.
- Connect the outlet port of the filter to the water line going to the appliance being served.
- If leak occurs, tighten fittings or reinsert tubing until leak stops.

3M Purification Inc. warrants this Product will be free from defects in material and manufacture for one year from the date of purchase. This warranty does not cover failures resulting from abuse, misuse, alteration or damage not caused by 3M Purification Inc. or failure to follow installation and use instructions. No warranty is given as to the service life of any filter cartridge or membrane as it will vary with local water conditions and water consumption. 3M PURIFICATION INC. MAKES NO OTHER WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE OR ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OR CONDITION ARISING OUT OF A COURSE OF DEALING, CUSTOMER OR USAGE OF TRADE. If the Product fails to satisfy this Limited Warranty during the warranty period, 3M Purification Inc. will replace the Product or refund your Product purchase price. This warranty does not cover labor. The remedy stated in this paragraph is Customer’s sole remedy and 3M Purification Inc.’s exclusive obligation.
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may have other rights
which may vary from state to state, or country to country. For any warranty

accompany the warranty claim, along with a complete description of the

indirect, special, incidental, or consequential, regardless of the legal
theory asserted, including warranty, contract, negligence or strict liability.

incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may
