Introduction

Haslingden Cricket Club Junior section welcomes all players irrespective of gender, race, religion, ability or disability. Children from the age of 5 years old and above are encouraged to play with an emphasis on fun as well as learning new skills and techniques in  a safe environment. If your children want to play cricket, then they are welcome.
Occasionally, particularly at the younger age groups the club has to operate a waiting list for membership to ensure that the coach to player ratio is safe and that training remains fun. This is done on a first come first served basis, not on ability.

Please do not hesitate to contact the relevant coach, chairman or secretary if you wish to enquire in a young person joining the club. All teams and contact details are listed on the back page.
We welcome the support of all family and friends. Therefore, if you would like to become an adult social club member (£40), memberships are available from the bar.
Discounts are available for couples (£60) and OAP’s (£20). A membership is paid annually and a junior player’s membership (£100) is collected by the 31 January each year.

Parent Helpers

The HCC Junior Committee is a voluntary organisation and relies heavily on people donating their time, this can be behind the scenes assisting with the administration/social side of the junior section or up front coaching our youngsters, or both. The junior  section of the club would welcome anyone interested in joining our committee with the view of helping in either or both of these capacities. The club actively sup-ports coaches in their training, such that your children then have the best opportunity possible to  develop their cricketing skills to the best of their own ability. Please note that the coaching of our juniors does not have to be a male dominated area and any willing female coaches would be most welcome. If you would like to be involved in developing junior  cricket skills or in other junior support roles at HCC, please contact Rachel Travers, all enquiries would be welcome.

Policies and Procedures

Haslingden Junior Cricket Club adopt the policies and procedures of the Haslingden Senior Cricket Club. Please refer to the HCC website for full details.

The Club takes the welfare and safety of children and young people in its care very seriously and subscribes to the E.C.B. Welfare of Young People in Cricket policy.
The Club has its own Safeguarding of Children Policy, a copy of which will be provided to all members on request.
All Coaches and Volunteers have been subject to enhanced Criminal Records Bureau checks and have either E.C.B. Level I or Level II qualifications.

Travers (Vice Chair/Junior Secretary) – contact details on the back page.

Cricket can be a dangerous game. Coaches will insist on safe practices and use of appropriate equipment. First aid equipment will always be available at every session.

Mobile phones
Coaches want junior players to improve their skills and will expect children to watch and support their team mates at all time, especially when not active on the field.
Therefore we ask that mobile phones are on silent and are not visible during matches.

Training and Matches

Indoor training takes place prior to the start of the cricket season. Location and timings vary but are communicated via the coaches and are detailed on our website.

Training continues through the season but is outdoors and takes place at Haslingden cricket club, weather permitting. If training is to be cancelled for any reason we will endeavour to let parents know in advance but parents are advised to check with Coaches  prior to training.
Please be aware that matches can take place on any night of the week and occasionally at week-ends but please note, that depending on the weather, they can be re-arranged at short notice. Every effort will be made to inform parents of changes to fixtures at the  earliest opportunity.
All players must be registered with the Club in order to play. This requires parents/ carers completing the form provided by the club detailing child’s name, address, any medication/medical condition, and emergency contact numbers.
If a junior player is selected to play for one of the senior teams the changing facilities are shared, please familiar yourself with the changing room & showering guidance, as per the club website.
All junior members are to be signed in and out of training and matches.
On out-door training nights the coaches will hold a register, please make sure an adult signs all junior players in and out of these sessions. . If parents of U15’s and U18’s members wish their children to self-register then a disclaimer must be signed and returned  to the HCC junior secretary (ask your coach for details).
Transport
Parents/carers are responsible for transporting children to home and away games or for arranging an alternative. Coaches cannot be responsible for arranging transport for teams. Please let Coaches know as soon as possible if a child is not available to play  because of transport difficulties.
Equipment
The Club can provide helmets, bats, balls, batting gloves and pads for training and matches. Players will need to provide their own abdominal protectors and wear appropriate underwear. On occasions the Club will be able to provide members with whites  through sponsorship. Parents/carers are requested to ensure that names are clearly marked in/on all items of kit. Please remember that lots of items of cricket equipment appear very similar unless the name is clearly marked.

Please remember that children need to wear appropriate warm clothing. If they are cold they cannot concentrate properly and enjoy their session. Even in the height of summer it can be cold during the evening in Haslingden. Occasionally the Club/Coaches are  given items of equipment (bats/gloves/pads etc) which other members have grown out of. These will be passed on to players of the suitable age group at the Coaches discretion.
Haslingden Cricket Club Junior sponsored clothing and other cricket kit is available to order online from Surridge.
