VERDI ReAcT2 60ml Bottle
VERDI-CARE™ is a water-soluble, nearly odorless, coin conservation fluid and protectant for the removal of light to moderate coin surface debris and verdigris. The chemist-developed formula is ultra-pure and gentle. It does not contain any soaps, detergents, harsh chemicals, or unnecessary added ingredients like odorants or colorants. VERDI-CARE™ is non-toxic, non- irritating, non-carcinogenic, and safe to use. When used as directed, it will remove many types of surface debris, condition the surfaces, and protect from corrosion with the same chemical system used by the U.S. Mint on modern coinage. Dry-looking coins will come to life as the surface conditioner acts on the patina creating a more vibrant-looking coin. Corroded coins will be protected from future environmental risks as ReAcT2™ bonds with the metal surface and neutralizes any corrosion. Coins will be conserved and NOT cleaned!
VERDI-CARE™ is effective on all types of coinage such as gold, silver, nickel, copper, brass, etc. -ALL METALS- circulated and uncirculated (not recommended for proof coins). If product removal is ever desired, 99.9+% of the surface conditioner can be removed with water and/or acetone leaving virtually no evidence of conservation. Rinsing with water or other solvents after treatment is not needed nor recommended. VERDI-CARE™ is safe for long-term storage and is designed to stay on the coin. See the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) document for more general information.
Directions for Spot Treating
- Place a small drop of product on the tip of a wooden implement such as a toothpick. DO NOT USE PLASTIC TO HELP AVOID SCRATCHING. Carefully touch the moistened tip to the spot being treated forming a dome over the area. Allow the area to soak from 1 to 10 minutes (do not let the product evaporate).
- While still wet, work the residue using a gentle up-and-down tapping motion until the desired results are obtained. Rubbing can be more effective but take care not to physically rub off the underlying patina! Less physical action is better to reduce the risk of damaging the surface.
- Dry the coin before storing it. See Drying and Storage below.
NOTE: VERDI-CARE™ will not remove black carbon spots, etched fingerprints, or other permanent organic deposits due to its gentle nature. It is designed to leave the coin patina and natural, original imperfections intact. It will only remove loosely adhered surface debris and light to moderate verdigris. Please refer to the FAQ document for more information.
Directions for Use as a Debris Remover (Recommended for Circulated Coins)
If the coin is coated with oil or another substance, it should be removed before conservation with VERDI-CARE™. Please check the FAQ document for more important information.
- Place a small amount of product on a soft, coin-safe, and nonabrasive cloth. A high-quality microfiber towel works well. The circle formed by the product should be just larger than the size of the coin to be treated. Grasp the coin by the rim and rotate in a clockwise and counterclockwise twisting motion against the soaked surface until the desired results are obtained and the entire coin surface is covered in product. Make sure the coin ONLY contacts the cloth where the product has been applied to avoid dry rubbing!
- Dry the coin before storing it. See Drying and Storage below.
Directions for Use as a Soak and Conditioner/Protectant
Recommended for uncirculated and delicate coins, although it is less effective as a debris remover. VERDI-CARE™ IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR PROOF COINS.
- Place the coin into a filled and covered container. Alternatively, place the coin into a container and add just enough VERDI-CARE™ to cover the surface of the coin. DO NOT ALLOW THE SOLUTION TO EVAPORATE.
- Soak one side of the coin for a few seconds or until the desired results are obtained. Then flip the coin to expose the opposite side to the product for an equivalent time (if required). Soaking either side for longer than 24 hours is not recommended. DO NOT OVEREXPOSE THE COIN. It should be removed from the solution as soon as the desired results are obtained. As with ANY chemical (including water), a change in the patina and/or coin surface may result from unnecessary overexposure.
- Dry the coin before storing it. See Drying and Storage below.
Drying and Storage
- Pat gently with a fresh coin-safe cloth to remove excess product. Allow the coin to air dry at room temperature (both sides). Normally all traces of water will evaporate within 24 hours; however, longer drying periods (days or even weeks) may be used. Avoid exposure to sunlight during and after drying. Do NOT heat to dry.
- Store conserved coins in an air-tight container protected from light under controlled temperature.
Caution
Consult product SDS and read FAQ before use.
