IMPORTANT NOTES
- You MUST have at least one existing key that already works with your vehicle in order to use the EZ Installer™. If you have no working keys, return the Simple Key to the retailer where it was purchased.
- The new key blade MUST be cut before beginning pairing. It can be cut at any local hardware store.
- Vehicle battery should be in good condition and fully charged prior to pairing the new key. Turn off headlights, radio, A/C fan, etc. to minimize battery draw during the process.
- Do not use the EZ Installer while the vehicle is in motion. Unplug it from the OBD port before driving the vehicle.
- Only original remote features will work, regardless of buttons included on the Simple Key. This key does not add remote features that your vehicle did not have before.
- For your security, a tamper-evident security label is installed over the EZ Installer connector. If this label is missing, damaged, or the word “VOID” appears on the EZ Installer, please exchange this Simple Key for a new one at the retailer where it was purchased.
- You will perform two steps: KEY ACTIVATION and KEY PAIRING. It is important to follow these steps in order to successfully complete the setup.
- If the user needs to pair and/or erase multiple keys and remotes, they do not have to remove the device from the OBD port after completing the entire process unless an error has occurred. However, if the user does remove the device and reconnect while transitioning from one process to another, that is OK.

STEP 1 (OF 2) KEY ACTIVATION
Follow the steps below to ACTIVATE your new key. Once you have activated your key, follow STEP 2 (of 2) KEY PAIRING to pair the key to your vehicle.
-
First, simultaneously press the LOCK and PANIC buttons on the remote. The light on the remote will illuminate and stay on.
-
Using your ACTIVATION CODE found in the table above, enter the first digit using the LOCK button, the second digit using the PANIC button, and the third digit using the UNLOCK button.
For example, KEY CODE 322 is entered by pressing the LOCK button three (3) times, the PANIC button two (2) times, and then the UNLOCK button two (2) times. -
Now, simultaneously press the LOCK and PANIC buttons on the remote.
a. The light will now blink back the ACTIVATION CODE you originally entered. If this does not match, go back to Step 1 to start over.
For example, the indicator light for KEY CODE 322 will blink (3) times, pause, blink two (2) times, pause, and finally blink two (2) times.
b. If the light blinks rapidly this indicates an error. Go back to ACTIVATION step 1 and retry the steps using your ACTIVATION CODE.
NOTE: You may re-enter activation codes anytime before the key is paired to your vehicle. After the key is paired to your vehicle, do not attempt to re-enter or change the button code. This will cause the key to not work. -
Move on to STEP 2 (of 2) to PAIR the key to your vehicle
STEP 2 (OF 2) KEY PAIRING
NOTE: Some of the instructions have timing requirements. If you wait too long between steps, your vehicle’s computer may time out, requiring you to start over. Once you begin the pairing procedure, move at a quick and even pace.
BEFORE YOU BEGIN
- Some of the pairing steps require you to turn the inserted key to Ignition II (ON) position as shown in the figure below. This is the position before starting the car (If there are no markings, turn the key clockwise and stop just short of starting the engine).
HONDA IGNITION POSITIONS
Diagram: 0 – Off, II – On, III – Starts engine
- Enter the vehicle and close all doors.
- Keep the original/already paired key and a new key with cut-blade with you.
- Proceed with the vehicle in PARK and the engine OFF.
- Make sure to locate your vehicle’s OBD port/diagnostic connector before you start (it can be found in your owner’s manual). It is generally located under the dash.
- Remove the security label from the EZ Installer.
- The Add 1 Key process should be used to add a new key. You only need to use the Erase All But 1 Key, Add New Key process if you receive the Too Many Keys error. After that, you can add additional keys using the Add 1 Key process.
KEY PAIRING PROCESS: PRIMARY DIAL POSITION (ADD 1 KEY)
Please follow the instructions below.
HONDA IGNITION POSITIONS

-
Insert a working key and turn the ignition to the ON position. Do not start the engine.
-
Ensure the EZ Installer cable is plugged into the OBDII port.
-
Put on the seatbelt.
NOTE: This step is not necessary for pairing but keeps the vehicle from beeping while you are listening for the EZ Installer to beep. -
Press and release the button on the EZ Installer and you will hear a beep.
-
When the EZ Installer beeps twice, turn OFF the ignition and remove the key. The EZ installer will beep once.
-
Insert the new key and turn the ignition to the ON position. Do not start the engine. The EZ installer will beep twice.
-
Turn the ignition OFF. The EZ installer will beep.
-
Turn the ignition to the ON position with the same key. Do not start the engine.
-
After 10 seconds, the EZ installer will beep twice. Turn the ignition OFF. The EZ Installer will beep.
-
Turn the ignition to the ON position with the same key. The EZ Installer will beep a success tune.
-
Start the engine to test the key.
-
Remove the key from the ignition and test the buttons on the remote.
NOTE: If you need to add a key after successfully pairing, you do not have to unplug and reconnect the EZ Installer. The device will reset after about 10 seconds and you can start a new pairing process.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: The EZ Installer beeps 7 times after pushing the button to initiate the
pairing process and won’t pair the new key
A: Your vehicle allows a maximum of 6 paired keys. If the vehicle already has the maximum paired keys, a new key cannot be paired. If the EZ Installer beeps 7 times early in the pairing process, it’s indicating that the maximum number of keys have been paired. Perform the Erase and Add 1 Key function to erase all but 1 key and then add a new key. Any other existing keys must then be added back in using the Add 1 Key function.
Q: Can I use the same EZ Installer on other vehicles?
A: No, the EZ Installer can only pair Simple Keys to one vehicle. You have the ability to pair additional Simple Keys to the same vehicle. Visit CKESimpleKey.com or your local retailer to purchase additional keys. If the EZ Installer sounds three beeps at approximately 1-second intervals followed by faster continuous beeps, this signifies that the device has already been used on another vehicle.
Q: The EZ Installer beeps Three/Four/Five/Six beeps with approximately
1-second interval 3 times, then beeps continuously
A: When a problem occurs during pairing EZ installer will play Error beeps before continuous faster beeps. The number of error beeps corresponds to a specific error code as explained below
- Three distinct beeps at 1-second intervals indicate that the device has already been used on another vehicle. The EZ Installer can only pair one Simple Key to one vehicle.
- Four distinct beeps at 1-second intervals indicate that you do not have a currently paired key in the ignition. The EZ Installer can only be used if you already have a working key and that key must be used to turn the car on at the beginning of the process.
- Five distinct beeps at 1-second intervals indicate that you took too long to complete a step during the pairing process. When using the EZ Installer, move at a steady and even pace. Delaying too long will cause the computer to time out and you will have to restart the process.
- Six distinct beeps at 1-second intervals indicate that you have selected the wrong type on the dial on the EZ Installer. Refer to the compatibility chart to select the correct type. If you are not sure about the vehicle type, contact customer service at 888-598-8910.
Q: The new key won’t pair to my car
Q: The EZ Installer was unplugged during the pairing process
A: The EZ Installer must remain plugged into the OBD port until pairing is complete. If the EZ Installer becomes unplugged during the pairing process, turn the key to the OFF position, remove the key, and begin the pairing process again, starting with step 1.
Q: The vehicle won’t start with the new key or old keys after attempting to
pair
