USE AND PRECAUTIONS
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 is a temporary and transportable H-base anchorage device designed to be used for access, suspension work, fall arrest and rescue/evacuation operations in confined spaces: tanks, silos, sewers, wells, or when working on a façade.
- It complies with European Regulation 2016/425 on PPE and in particular with standard EN 795:2012 Type A and B, as well as Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC (formerly 98/37 EC) for lifting loads.
- It can also be used with brackets (FA 60 022 01/11/13 on the floor or FA 60 022 02/12 on the wall), permanently fastened in/on a structure, while the arm and davit arm body can be moved from bracket to bracket, or used with the H-base.
- Use as anchorage point for ‘lifting’ persons: use by one person at a time.
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 can then be used in combination with retractable fall arresters (EN 360), rescue devices (EN 1496 class A or B) and/or suspension work devices.
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 complies with the requirements of standard EN1808-§ 9.3 allowing the use of it as a suspension structure for people, as well as standard EN795:2012 Type A and B allowing the use of it as a fall arrest anchorage point.
- Use as anchorage point for lifting loads:
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 can be used in combination with suitable lifting equipment (such as winch, hoist, etc.).
- Max load on mast: 250 kg
- Max load under arm : 500 kg
- The maximum loads indicated must be applied individually; it is not possible to accumulate several loads at the same time on the various anchorage points of the same EASYSAFEWAY 1.
- WARNING, whatever the use of EASYSAFEWAY 1, it is ESSENTIAL that the accessories (such as the mounting brackets) and/or lifting devices installed on it are original or certified by KRATOS SAFETY (see paragraph on Compatible accessories).
- All the elements (pulleys, safety pins, etc.) cannot be lost.
THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF EASYSAFEWAY 1 ANCHORAGE
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 is equipped with 2 such anchorages of this type on the mast and 1 anchorage of this type on the arm, R>12kN. They can be used for both PPE and load lifting equipment.
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 is equipped with an anchorage point of this type the two mast flanges, R>12 kN. It can be used for both PPE and load lifting equipment.
- EASYSAFEWAY 1, in combination with the FA 60 105 01 bracket, creates an anchorage for the installation of a retractable fall arrester (EN 360) with or without a recovery system (EN 1496).
- EASYSAFEWAY 1, in combination with the FA 60 105 02 bracket, creates an anchorage for the installation of a Winch (EN 1496).
- Whichever anchorage is used, ensure that the dynamic force exerted on it is limited to a maximum of 6 kN. If this value is not observed, EASYSAFEWAY 1 must not be used again.
- N.B. the PPE anchorage point(s) must be identified and different from the load lifting anchorage point(s); these two types of anchorage should never be used at the same time.
INSTALLATION ON AN H BASE: (See pictures 1 to 12, p. 6-7)
- During all the operations described above, carry out a visual and possibly functional check of the components, and only install components in perfect condition.
- EASYSAFEWAY 1 is delivered with 4 locking castors on an H-base; these allow it to be moved easily during use. However, under load (with a person or when handling loads), the adjustable feet should take over from the castors. Always check before use that the H-base is perfectly horizontal using the built-in spirit levels on the H-base. The H-base should always be installed on a hard surface; avoid soft ground such as sand, grass, gravel, etc.
- The work area and the user must always be directly below the deflection pulley (or, if used, directly below the anchorage point under the arm) of the EASYSAFEWAY 1.
- In addition, the plumb line of the deflection pulley (or, if used, the plumb line of the anchorage point under the arm) must be within the wheelbase of the H-base (hatched area in the photo opposite).
- If the site configuration leads to use outside the wheelbase, EASYSAFEWAY 1 may become unstable and must be securely braced to withstand the loads in use. This type of installation must be validated by a person qualified to carry out this type of inspection. In any case, it is not allowed to work outside the area between the two feet of the H-base.
- Before first use, we recommend that the installation be visually inspected by a suitable person who can carry out the “acceptance” of this installation. This person must check, among other things: the installation plan relative to the job to be performed; cross-compatibility between the products (mounting bracket, adaptation plate and fall arrest system installed on this anchorage).
INSTALLATION ON FLOOR/WALL BRACKETS: (See pictures p. 9-10)
- During all the operations described above, carry out a visual and possibly functional check of the components and only install components in perfect condition.
- Floor and wall brackets (FA 60 022 01/11 & FA 60 022 02/12): The receiving structure must be able to withstand stresses equivalent to 22.1 MPa or N/mm2, minimum thickness: 229 mm. The fasteners/structural anchors must be strong enough to handle this strain. They must be stainless steel, size M16 and class A470 (minimum). Using the nature of the receiving structure and the site’s configuration, a qualified structural engineer must run calculations to determine that the sizing of the structural anchors (length), the type of fixture (chemical or mechanical fasteners, etc.), the position of the structural anchors, and thus of the mounting bracket, are all correct. We recommend that the mounting bracket be set 280 mm away from all edges.
- Mounting bracket in concrete (FA 60 022 13): This can be installed when the concrete is poured/during construction, provided that the concrete does not penetrate the sleeve.
- Installation must be perpendicular. If it is installed afterwards (preformed concrete), chisel the concrete perpendicularly to min diam. 108 mm – max. diam. 112 mm to a depth of 274 mm. Also make sure to remove all debris from the hole and clean it properly (blowing). Use a ready-to-use two-part EPOXY resin/adhesive for technical seals and anchorages for reinforced concrete. Apply this resin/adhesive completely around and underneath the sleeve. Please refer to and comply with the resin’s drying time instructions.
- The thickness of the concrete and the distance between the sleeve and the edge must be duly checked and approved by a qualified structural engineer. This sleeve is fitted with a plug to prevent it from filling up with water, debris, etc. It should be fitted on the sleeve as much as possible. To open/close, use a 6 mm Allen key.
- Before first use with floor/wall brackets, we recommend that the installation be visually inspected by a suitable person who can carry out the “acceptance” of this installation. This person must check, among other things: suitability of the structural anchors and the receiving structure; the installation plan relative to the job to be performed; cross-compatibility between the products (mounting bracket, adaptation plate and fall arrest system installed on this anchorage).
- If necessary and/or possible depending on the configuration of the site, we recommend placing barriers around the work area to secure and mark out the area.

- Warning! Pay particular attention to properly installing the safety pins, and, if applicable, the pins used to mount the adaptation plate. If applicable, make sure that the retractable fall arrester and/or winch are properly mounted. Do not use EASYSAFEWAY 1 if a single pin is missing!
- Warning! When in use, if another person stays near the davit arm (if handling or in the event that a rescue operation becomes necessary), this spotter must ensure that he/she is not in situation that presents a fall risk. If the H-base is used, this third party can connect themselves the anchorage rings on the mast. When using the brackets (FA 60 022 X1 & FA 60 022 X2) they are equipped with an anchorage point that allows the third party present to be connected to a reliable anchorage in order to be secured.
Connections between the anchorage points and the fall arrest system or rescue system, affixed above, must be made using a connector (EN 362).
-
EASYSAFEWAY 1 is PPE; we recommended that it be allocated to a single user. However, another person is needed in the event of rescue operations. User safety relies on the ongoing effectiveness of the equipment and full understanding of the safety instructions contained in this leaflet. The readability of the product’s markings must be checked regularly.
-
EASYSAFEWAY 1 must be positioned so that the anchorage is above the user (minimum strength 12 kN). Ensure that the general set-up limits swinging in the event of a fall (the user should be plumb with the lifting arm as much as possible), and that the work is performed in such a way as to limit the risk and height of a fall. It is important to check the free space under the user’s feet depending on the system used.
-
Before and during use, we recommend that you make the necessary arrangements for a safe rescue, should this be required. If a motionless victim remains suspended in a harness for more than 20 minutes, serious, potentially life-threatening, consequences can result (harness hang syndrome). Be aware of the hazards that could reduce the performance of your equipment and, therefore, the safety of the user in the case of: exposure to extreme temperatures (< -30°C or >50°C); prolonged exposure to the elements (UV rays, moisture) or to chemicals; electrical constraints; the fall arrest system becoming twisted when in use; or sharp edges, friction, cuts, etc.
-
This equipment must only be used by trained, competent and healthy individuals or under the supervision of a trained and competent individual. Warning! Certain medical conditions may affect user safety; if in doubt, consult your doctor.
-

KRATOS SAFETY certifies that EASYSAFEWAY 1 has been tested in accordance with standard EN 795:2012 Type A and B.
COMPATIBILITY FOR USE:
A harness must be used as part of a fall arrest system as defined in the
product data sheet (EN 363) with the goal of guaranteeing that the dynamic
force exerted on the user during arrest of a fall is no greater than 6 kN. A
fall arrest harness (EN 361) is the only body-support device that may be used.
It can be dangerous to create one’s own fall arrest system in which each
safety function can interfere with another safety function. Therefore, it is
important to read the recommendations on using each component in the system
before use.
INSPECTION :
- While the recommended service life of the product is unlimited (in accordance with the annual examination by a competent person authorised by KRATOS SAFETY), it may be reduced according to use and/or the results of the annual inspections. The equipment must be systematically checked if in doubt or after a fall and at least every twelve months by the manufacturer or a competent person* and in strict compliance with the manufacturer’s periodic examination procedures (and in particular the Inspection Guides ref. GI XX-3XXXXXX-XX), in order to ensure its strength and therefore the safety of the user. The product data sheet should be completed (in writing) after each verification. The date of inspection and date of the next inspection must be indicated on the data sheet. It is also recommended to put the date of the next inspection on the product.
- *: refer to the definition of a competent person on our website under: Info/Technical Advice If EASYSAFEWAY 1 is used to lift loads, the checks must be carried out every 6 months.
