  1. Read these instructions.

  2. Keep these instructions.

  3. Heed all warnings.

  4. Follow all the instructions.

  5. After unpacking the product, ensure you do not leave the packaging within reach of children, as it poses a risk of suffocation.

  6. Only clean with a dry cloth.

  7. Do not obstruct ventilation openings. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for installing the device.

  8. Do not install the device close to a heat source (e.g. a cooking appliance, flame, etc.) or any other appliance (including amplifiers) that gives out heat. The device must not be exposed to temperatures above 65°C.

  9. Only use accessories recommended by the manufacturer.

  10. If cords or connectors are supplied, use them properly as described in the user manual without substituting them or modifying them.

  11. The methods of installing and mounting loudspeakers to any surface (bracket, ground anchoring, etc.) depend on the conditions and standards of construction, refurbishment, safety and cabling in force and applicable to the surfaces and/or brackets involved. In addition, the products may vibrate and damage the brackets onto which they are mounted. For this reason, the installation operations must be performed by a qualified professional who is familiar with installation and safety standards. Focal does not provide any end-of-use warranty for a given bracket or installation, as installing the loudspeakers is the customer’s sole responsibility. Focal is therefore not liable in any capacity whatsoever in the event of an incident, accident and/or any other result or damage of any kind related to the installation of loudspeakers.

  12. Only use suitable handling equipment, trolleys, stands, tripods, mounts or tables recommended by the manufacturer or sold with the device. If using a trolley, take extra care when moving the trolley and device together, to prevent the device from falling off and causing injury.
    Suitable handling

  13. All maintenance tasks should be performed by a qualified professional. Maintenance is necessary following any damage caused to the device, such as damage to the cabling or the plug, objects inserted into the device, liquids spilled inside the device, or if the device is incorrectly operated or dropped.

  14. After any maintenance or repair work on the device, ask the maintenance technician to test it to check that it is working safely.

  15. If the product is damaged in any way, its IP certification will no longer be valid, so if any liquid or solid comes into contact with the product it could present a danger to the user or could damage a third-party electronic device connected to the product.

  16. Beware of buried and semi-buried components, or those running along the ground, as these pose a risk of obstacle, collision and/or fall. Do not allow children or frail individuals to approach them.

  17. Some users are not sufficiently independent to safely use the product alone, particularly children under 14 and people with certain disabilities. It is therefore imperative that they are supervised and assisted when using the device.

  18. To avoid damaging your hearing, do not listen to loudspeakers at high volumes for long periods of time. Listening to loudspeakers at high volumes can cause damage to the user’s ears and may lead to hearing problems (temporary or permanent deafness, buzzing in the ears, tinnitus, hyperacusis). Exposure to excessive volumes (over 85dB) for more than one hour can cause irreparable damage to your hearing.

CHOOSING AN AMPLIFIER

In an 8Ώ Amplifier configuration:
It is not an excess of amplifier power that can damage your loudspeaker and drivers, but rather a lack of power. In fact, if the volume is too high, the amplifier saturates and generates parasite signals that may destroy the tweeter. The dynamic capacity and definition of Littora loudspeakers are high enough to reveal the strengths and weaknesses of whatever amplifier is connected to them. Your dealer will be able to guide you, depending on your tastes and budget.

In a 70V/100V Amplifier configuration:
It is recommended to use an amplifier that delivers 20% more power than the system’s total power to avoid a surge or damage to Littora products. Your retailer will be able to guide you depending on your tastes and budget.

An amplifier used at full power, combined with a 70V/100V transformer, can deliver dangerous voltages. Always disconnect the power from the amplifier and the transformer before handling, to avoid any risk of electric shock.
Follow the recommendations and instructions/configuration of your amplifier in order to correctly connect each Littora 200 loudspeaker.

Cable choice
Choose good quality cables with a cross-section appropriate for outdoor installation: your dealer will be able to advise you.

LOUDSPEAKER POSITIONING

OD STONE 8/OD SAT 5
The loudspeakers should be arranged, evenly spaced, in a line or arc in order to  cover the listening area as best as possible. The space between two loudspeakers will be at least 6.5ft (2m) for a listening station measuring between 6.5ft – 19.6ft (2-6m) (fig. 14). However, it is possible to vary these distances to find an ideal compromise depending on the space layout.

OD SUB 12
To supply the listening area as best as possible, place the OD SUB 12 as close as possible to the centre of the system, avoiding any pools (fountains, swimming pools, water sources, etc.). The optimal listening zone is a radius of 16.6ft (6m) around the sub. For more bass, place it closer to a wall (fig. 15).

INSTALLATION

Before installing the loudspeakers, ensure that the intended positions on the ceiling/wall/ground are not obstructed by the passage of air vents, for example, or any cables that may interfere with the installation. These products are IP55 certified for increased water and dust-resistance. To protect their service life do not expose them to constantly running water and never immerse them in water. After heavy rainfall, we recommend waiting a few hours before turning them on again; allowing them to dry-out naturally will restore nominal audio functioning.

OD STONE 8
INSTALLATION
INSTALLATION

The design of the OD STONE 8 allows it to be placed on any surface without mounting. It can either be placed or fixed using its attachment loop located on the base.

WALL-MOUNTING
OD SAT 5 (fig.7)
WALL MOUNTING

Before hanging the products, make sure the ceiling/walls are strong, in perfect condition, and are suitable to remain so longterm. Use a professional to fix the wall brackets (E) and only use screws and dowels suitable for the materials. To mount the loudspeakers, securely fasten the bracket using screws suitable for the materials. For a more discreet installation, thread the cable through the hole in the middle of the mounting bracket and the notch on the base (fig. 16). Make sure to leave around 113/4″ (30cm) of cable to allow you to connect and position the loudspeaker easily afterwards. Next, direct the loudspeaker towards the listening area and tighten the joints firmly with the locking screws (fig. 8).

GROUND MOUNTING
OD SAT 5 (fig. 9)
GROUND MOUNTING

Mounting in the ground is only possible in soil or sand. They cannot be mounted in rigid metal, wood or concrete floors. Take the stake (F) provided and plant it using your hand around 4-5cm into the ground. Then drive the stake in as far as it will go using a suitable tool. For a more discreet installation, thread the cable through the hole in the middle and the opening on the bottom of the stake. Make sure to leave around 113/4″ (30cm) of cable to allow you to connect and position the loudspeaker easily afterwards. The stake can be cut down for installations in shallow ground. To help cut it, there are notches on the stake at 4″ and 77/8″ (10 and 20cm).
Attention: cutting the stake will create sharp edges which could cause injury.
Next, direct the loudspeaker towards the listening area and tighten the joints firmly with the locking screws (fig. 8)

OD SUB 12
LENGTH VIEW
LENGTH VIEW

To supply the listening area as best as possible, place the OD SUB 12 as close as possible to the centre of the system, avoiding any pools (fountains, swimming pools, water sources, etc.). For more bass, move the OD SUB 12 nearer a wall (fig. 15). Prepare the space for the sub by digging a hole measuring 13×345/8×15 (330x880x380mm) (fig. 10).Positioning (fig. 10 and 11): To get the most out of the sub, make sure there is a minimum 23/4″ (7cm) between the ground and the part above the ground. Adjust the height of the vent to suit you by twisting it whilst positioned in its location. Then cover the body with around 3/4″ (2cm) of soil. Warning: This product is only intended for use with the body underground.

OD SAT 5
INSTALLATION

The power of the OD SAT 5 is adjusted using the two-position notched selector on the back. To access it, remove the screw on the back of the satellite (fig. 6). Each position selects two values. It is the type of amplifier connected to the speaker that determines the power emitted by the speaker.

Example: In the 20W/40W position, a 70V amplifier will deliver 20W while a 100V amplifier will deliver 40W.

---|---
70V| 5W| 10W| 20W| 40W| OFF
100V| 10W| 20W| 40W| Θ| OFF

8 Ω
Dedicated position for a traditional 8Ω hi-fi amplifier.

5W/100 W, 10W/20 W, 20W/40 W and 40W/Θ
In these positions you can use a 70V or 100V amplifier.

Θ Do not use

This position requires the use of a 70V amplifier only. Using a 100V amplifier may damage the loudspeaker and the amplifier.

SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS

Running-in period
The speaker drivers used in the Littora range of loudspeakers are complex mechanical assemblies which need a running-in period to operate at their best and to become acclimatised to the temperature and humidity of your environment. This running-in period varies depending on the conditions in question and may take several weeks. To reduce this time, we recommend operating your loudspeakers for about 20 consecutive hours at a moderate volume. Once the loudspeakers’ characteristics have totally stabilised, you will be able to enjoy your Littora loudspeakers’ performance to the full.

Conditions of warranty
All Focal loudspeakers are covered by warranty drawn up by the official Focal distributor in your country. Your distributor can provide all details concerning the conditions of warranty. Warranty cover extends at least to that granted by the legal warranty in force in the country where the original purchase invoice was issued.
