Fitting and Wiring Instructions
IMPORTANT
THIS CONTROLLER SHOULD BE:
- NSTALLED BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
- USED WITH A SINGLE ‘T’ SERIES FAN ONLY AND MUST NOT BE USED WITH ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT
- WIRED WITH 5-CORE (0.75mm, CABLE FOR UNITS WITH SHUTTER.
Unscrew the two screws and remove the Lid/switch from the mounting box.
Fitting
Do not mount the controller on an accessible 9 unearthed metal surface.
Clear cable entry of 20mm conduit knock-outs as required.
Plastic Surface Mounting Box
Fix to wall by using 2 screws. Alternatively, holes are provided to suit most metal single and double gang recessed outlet boxes.
Metal Box
Surface mounting fix to wall by using screws as required. Flush fitting remove gasket. Install the box with the rim flush with the finished wall surface. Brackets are supplied for partition wall fitting. A recess 150mm long x 80mm high x 50mm deep is required to accommodate the box. To ensure earth continuity when using partition wall brackets, fix with screws provided.
Transferring Speed Control Pack from Fan to Controller
Before wiring, the speed control pack must be removed from the fan (See
illus. A) and fitted into the 3-pin socket in the back of the controller.
(See illus. B).
This is done as follows:
- Remove fan connector socket by sliding it to the left and upwards.
- Unscrew the captive grille securing screw at top of fan and remove grille.
- Partially unscrew the two safety catch screws on the face of the housing until the side catches can be pushed inwards.
- withdraw the housing assembly.
- Unplug and remove speed control pack from fan.
- reassemble fan.
- Insert speed control pack into controller.
THIS PROCEDURE IS ESSENTIAL BECAUSE, UNLESS IT IS FOLLOWED, SPEED CONTROL WILL NOI BE POSSIBLE.
Wiring
Warning: this appliance must be earthed.
Ensure that mains supply is isolated before proceeding with the wiring. Connection to mains supply should be in accordance with current IEE Regulations, BS 7671, or the appropriate standards in your country. The installation must be provided with a double pole switch, having a contact separation of not less than 3mm. When using surface wiring that is not being contained in conduit, the supply and output cables must be securely clipped to the mounting surface close to the controller.
Mains Supply Connection Connect the live conductor from supply to terminal marked L on connector block 1. Connect the neutral conductor to the upper terminal marked N on connector block 1. Connect the earth conductor to one of the terminals marked E L G on connector block 3.
Fan Connection Terminals L1, L2, L3 on connector block 1 and E l G on connector block 3 should be connected to the corresponding terminals in the fan connector socket., Ter miral N1 on the connector block 1 should be connected to terminal N in the fan connector socket.
For Extract Operation Only Remove the black link 4 located behind connector block 3 and place in storage slot 5. For Intake Operation Only As for extract operation but change over leads Ll and L2 in the control switch.
For Automatic Remote Switching (if required) See also relevant sensor wiring instructions. Connect sensor switch leads to L4 and L5 in the connector block 2. When slide switch is in the position marked auto !automatic switching from sensor/switch (if fitted) will be obtained.
Replace lid/switch into mounting box. Do not overtighten captive screws.
You may now switch on mains supply, and controller will operate as follows:
Automatic I Fan Mode I Off I Fan Shutter Open Intake (Fan off) I Low Medium Speed Speed I Fan On Fan Extract High Speed
