PAINT
Select a watercolor you want to use as the base color and paint abstract butterfly wing shapes on your paper. Use watercolor droppers to add droplets of color and fill your butterfly wings – avoid using your paintbrush anymore. It will mix the colors and make it muddy. Repeat this process with different colors for another beautiful butterfly! If you have room on your paper, make some little wings to add multiple layers to the butterflies.
DRY
Set your paper aside to dry. If it’s nice and sunny outside, set your paper in the sun to speed up the process. Maybe read a book for a little while.
EMBELLISH & CUT
Once your paper is completely dry, use paint pens to add details to your butterflies. Set aside to dry. Once the paper is completely dry, use your scissors to cut out your butterfly wings.
BUILD
Fold the wire in half and thread it through the center of the small wooden ball mount. Glue it to the center of the wooden plaque. This will act as the base to help your butterfly fly. Glue the butterfly wings to the wooden ball mount, one at a time. You will have to hold the wing up until the glue is fully dry. We recommend using a hot glue gun if you have it available! Continue this until all your wings are attached. Wrap the wire around the end of your paintbrush and pull the paintbrush out to leave the wire nice and curly like an antenna.
