DESCRIPTION

The Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS, detailed layout of the various parts shown in the image below, essentially consists of three parts:

  1. Device body – power tool with expander (machine certified by Aquatechnik)
  2. Lithium-ion battery (original instructions annexed)
  3.  Battery charger (original instructions annexed)
    The expansion system is driven by a battery-powered lithium-ion power tool. This device combines the convenience of battery-powered operation with the pull mechanism in the formation of flares. Extractors equipped with reusable expanders can process up to five hundred consecutive flares, depending on pipe diameter. The pull system guarantees calibrated flaring, observing the structural features of multilayer pipes. aquatechnik-BST-32-PLUS-Beaker-

LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACK
PICTURES AND INFORMATION FROM THE ORIGINAL METABO MANUAL (17030016_00_1020)

An increase in battery temperature during charging and during use is a normal phenomenon. Overheating of the battery can temporarily block the charging operation. A special sensor inter-venes by restarting charging in the correct way (in this case the charging time may be longer). To preserve the service life and proper functioning of the battery, it is recommended to discharge it completely – at least the first few times – before recharging. Carrying out partial recharging of the batteries can lead to a reduction in battery runtimes.

TRANSPORTATION OF RECHARGEABLE LITHIUM-ION BATTERY PACK

The 2.0 Ah lithium-ion rechargeable batteries, supplied with the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS, if unmodified and completely original, do not require any additional packaging in accor-dance with UN3480 and UN3481, which regulate the transport of batteries with a range of more than 5.5 Ah. For more details regarding the transport of batteries by ship, road and air, safety information and disposal of packaging, please refer to the Metabo website page, which contains all environmental, health and safety information in accordance with European regulations. https://www.metabo.com/it/it/info/assistenza/ambiente- salute-sicurezza

ENVIRONMENTAL OPERATING CONDITIONS

The operating environment in which the device is to be placed is a normal construction site or workshop environment and, therefore, a room sheltered from weather conditions such as rain, hail, snow, fog, etc. Naturally, it should be free from corrosive vapours or sources of excessive heat.

  • Environmental operating temperature must be between -20°C and 50°C
  • Relative humidity must be between 20% and 75%, non-condensing
  • Operating heights must be between 0 and 1000 m above sea level
  • Performance is limited at temperatures below 0 °C or heights above 1000 m
  • Permissible environmental temperature during storage: 0°C to 30°C

ON/OFF SETTING, BUTTON B fig.1

  • Power on: press push-button switch B.
  • Power off: release push-button switch B.
    Note: the noise audible when the tool is switched off is due to the type of construction (rapid stop) and does not affect the operation and service life of the tool in any way.

ON/OFF SETTING, BUTTON B fig.1

The advance button (B) can and should only operate with continuous pressure of the operator’s finger. IT IS STRICTLY FORBIDDEN to forcibly jam button (B) with cable ties or any other clamping means. This button is a safety, dead man’s switch. Powering it off immediately upon release ensures safety for the operator.

STEPS FOR CREATING FLARES WITH REUSABLE EXPANDER

  1. Fit the desired working diameter head onto the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS.
    To carry out this operation, the device must be in the resting posi tion. The Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS automatically positions itself in this state at the end of a flaring cycle. The Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS can, however, be brought to its resting position at any time by using the emergency return device (C, fig.2a-2b).aquatechnik-BST-32-PLUS-Beaker-
\(17\)

  2. Insert the reusable expander (F) with the flange facing the Pipe Flaring Machine into the removable head (E) as in figure 3. Screw on the ring nut (G).
    Screw the header onto the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS, then insert the extractor (H) until it clicks into place (fig. 4).aquatechnik-BST-32-PLUS-
Beaker- \(18\)

  3.  Cut the pipe with care, then insert the cap.

  4. Insert the extractor (H) into the pipe, up to the stop on the flange of the reusable expander (F).
    Caution : the pipe must be aligned on axis and parallel to the extractor (H, fig. 5).

  5. aquatechnik-BST-32-PLUS-Beaker- \(19\) Press the advance button (B) until the flare is created (the pipe will automatically disengage from the tool when the operation is complete). The Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS will automatically return to its resting position. NB: the time required for automatic reset is 4-5 seconds.

  6. Engage the fitting into the resulting flare by pushing up to the stop.

  7. Screw the cap up to the anti-loosening safety notch (use a 50600 series spanner).

CAUTION

NB: any removal of the fitting is achieved by releasing the cap using the fixed spanner. DO NOT REUSE caps that are already secured up to the anti- loosening system.
Replace the reusable expander (F) when the pipe has difficulty entering (fig. 5) or when it is worn (after approx. 500 flares).
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Allow the device or rechargeable battery pack to cool.

PROCESSING REMARKS

Use the support
The Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS is provided with a suitable sup-port (O), which can be used as tool support when working on a bench, and as support when one should use it on a site.
(fig. 6a)

Bench processing
Place the support ring (O, fig.6a) on the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS tank and tighten the special screw (fig. 6b). The special shape of the support locks the equipment in a balance condition preventing it from falling and comfortably allows for bench processing on any work surface.
(fig. 6b)

EMERGENCY UNLOCKING

CAUTION: the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS is equipped with an automatic device that, when the flaring process is complete, puts the equipment back in the rest position (reset time 4-5 seconds), ready to perform other flaring processes. It is however possible to place the equipment in this operating position manually.

  1. Unscrew the cap of the emergency device (C) by accessing the gear below (fig. 7a);
  2. Screw the cap head onto the screw until the machine is completely reset (fig. 7b);
  3. At the end of the procedure, return the cap to the starting conditions.

Operation 2

Unlocking tool (N)

aquatechnik-BST-32-PLUS-Beaker- \(22\)

If operation 1 is not sufficient to unlock the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS, repeat steps 1 and 2 of operation 1 and then:

  • unscrew the cap (L) on the back of the piston of the Pipe Flaring Machine BST 32 PLUS (fig. 8);
  • screw in the unlocking tool (N) till the end (fig. 9a-9b);
  • using a screwdriver or 10 mm Allen key inserted in the end of the threa- ded rod (X), screw in the threaded rod itself (W) until the Pipe Flaring Ma- chine BST 32 PLUS returns to the start/rest position (fig. 10);
  • remove the unlocking tool (N) and screw the piston cap back on;
  •  reposition the cap of the emergency device (C,fig. 11) in the starting position.
