WELLMATE RT-200 Fiberglass Well Mate and Clack Retention Tanks

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

IMPORTANT – For your safety, please read the entire installation manual before attempting to install this product.

  • Never install the tank where it or the connected plumbing can freeze.
  • A pressure limiting device or pressure relief valve must be installed with this tank. The warranty is VOID if the system pressure exceeds the maximum operating pressure rating on the tank label. The pressure relief valve must not be isolated from the tank by a check valve and must be set so that the maximum rated operating pressure is never exceeded. The pressure relief valve should be sized so that enough flow can be relieved from the system to ensure that the maximum operating pressure is never exceeded.
  • When using a pump with an air injector, the injector port must be plugged.
  • Maximum operating pressure and temperature is listed on the warning
label on the side of the tank.

WARNING

Failure to install and operate this tank in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations may cause the tank to fail resulting in fatal injury, property damage and/or render the tank inoperable. The tank is prepressurized from the factory and in operation, this tank is pressurized: Under no circumstance should the tank, fittings or connected system be disassembled prior to the complete discharging of both air and fluid pressures.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Turn off the electrical power to the pump at the control box.

  2.  Remove the WellMate commercial tank from the packaging.

  3.  Position the tank on a stable level surface. Warning: Models with the tri-leg design require that each leg be firmly fastened to the floor.

  4.  Refer to figure #1 for the recommended plumbing configuration.
Connect the water supply line to the bottom pipe extension or the discharge elbow. Use only Teflon tape for sealing. The outlet pipe and any connected plumbing should be supported so as not to put weight on the tank discharge elbow. (If retention tank is being installed, ignore #5 & #7.)

  5.  Check precharge via the air stem on the top of the tank. For maximum drawdown, the precharge should be adjusted to 5 psig less than system cut- in pressure. For example, in a 30-50 system pressure range the precharge should be 25 psig. Note: For high volume applications, supplemental drawdown can be achieved by slightly decreasing the precharge to 10 psig less than the cut-in pressure.

  6. Pressurize the system and check all connections for leaks.

  7. Cycle the system a number of times and check for smooth operation. It may be necessary to make adjustments to the pressure switch settings or the air cell precharge to optimize system performance.
Note: All plumbing should conform to state, provincial and/or local codes.
